god's rath???? part 2

To continue yesterdays topic... and to get back to the original thought... the question "does/would god take away your talents if your not using them for his glory?"

I have gotten a lot of feedback on this topic which is really cool! Any way the majority of the people i have talked to have said they don't think god would take a talent just for not using it to glorify god. A small amount of people thought the exact opposite.

Well because it's my blog you guys get my opinion! Which i have been thinking a lot about! Ok here it goes... There are many ways to view this topic... one being, the fact that God is a jelious god! In that respect... the argument might go in favor of 'yes he would.'

Now on the other side of the spectrum, is the obvious argument, 'why haven't people like John Mayer or Dave Matthews or Bon Jovi... why haven't they lost their talent?

Well because we as christians are held to a higher standard therefore if we don't use our gifts to glorify God, he just may take them!

The arguments could go on for days!!! Here FINALY is my response....

We have no right to say what God may or may not do... God's will is so far beyond our comprehension that to say one way or the other I think would be nieve! However God has given us all free will!!! He has given us grace! Therefore I don't believe that God would punish us for our decisions which he has allowed us to make!

God is not an angry God... he is JUST!

GOD'S RATH???

So i was talking to a couple really good friends of mine (who are actually my band mates) they were debating a this topic "if you don't use your talents for gods work will he take them away."

The conversation started with my friend stating that he used to sing and play bass in a lot of bands in high school, and in the matter of a couple of days he like got sick or something as well as got hit the neck with a hockey stick, any way he lost is ability to sing well. That was the point he was trying to make. keep in mind he still could  technically  sing... just not well.

He continued by saying "I wasn't using  my talents for god so he took it away my singing voice."  The other band member said  "wow... interesting theology!" he asked "you think god would actually take away a talent just for not using it to glorify god?... why then has he not taken away Marlin Manson's  voice or Alice Cooper's?" The Response was "...i dunno"

The entire conversation all i said was "Why would god only take away singing...you were obviously playing music on your bass that wasn't glorifying god... so why would he take your 2nd best talent" the response ..." wow...i dunno"

Now... here in lies my biggest problem with what was said in this debate! It wasn't the question of weather or  not God would take away a talent... my issue is... were is the line between people accepting the fact that god allows people to live with consequences of life, without saying "God obviously took away my gift?" For example is it possible that if my friend got hit in the throat with a hockey stick, that in it's self might have caused problems that would hinder one to be able to sing?

Not to say this about my friend at all, but some people "i feel" put convenient issues on the "rath" of god!!!!
